Right of withdrawal
This is a translation for convenience. Truffle is sold from Germany, and the German version is the binding one. Where the two differ, the German text applies.
This page explains in short how the right of withdrawal works when you buy Truffle. It is not the withdrawal instruction itself. The binding instruction is given to you by the provider that handles the sale, during checkout — where the contract is actually concluded.
Who your contracting party is
The sale and the contract are handled by Lemon Squeezy, LLC (United States). That provider is the seller and your contracting party. Its terms and its withdrawal instructions apply: lemonsqueezy.com/terms.
If anything on this page differs from the provider's instructions, the provider's instructions apply — it is the party that concludes the contract with you.
The basic rule
As a consumer you generally have fourteen days to withdraw from a distance contract. For digital content that is not supplied on a physical medium — and Truffle, as a download, is exactly that — the period starts when the contract is concluded.
When the right expires early
For digital content the right of withdrawal can expire before the fourteen days are up. Under Section 356(6) no. 2 of the German Civil Code (BGB), four conditions must be met together:
- the trader has begun performing the contract,
- you have expressly consented to performance beginning before the withdrawal period ends,
- you have confirmed your awareness that by giving this consent you lose your right of withdrawal once performance begins, and
- you have been provided with a confirmation of the contract under Section 312f BGB.
Consent and confirmation of awareness are two separate declarations; a single tick box saying “download now” does not satisfy the provision. If even one of the four conditions is missing, the right of withdrawal does not expire — downloading alone does not end it.
In practice: during checkout you are asked explicitly whether the download should start immediately, and you confirm that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal. Only then does the download begin. If you would rather keep the right of withdrawal, do not consent to the immediate start.
Applicable law
German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which you have your habitual residence remain unaffected.
Truffle is offered in twenty languages. There are deliberately no country-specific legal pages: European consumer law is stricter than that of most other target markets, and the sentence above makes sure that the protection of your country of residence applies to you in any case.
Price
The amount shown on the start page is the total price. It includes VAT. No delivery, shipping or other additional costs apply — Truffle is provided as a download.
The provider that handles the sale charges VAT according to the law of your country. The amount shown to you during checkout may therefore differ from the one on the start page; the total price shown during checkout is the one that counts.
Consumer dispute resolution
A note on the European Commission's former online dispute resolution platform: it was shut down on 20 July 2025 and is no longer reachable. A link to it, as still found in many older legal texts, leads nowhere and is therefore omitted here.
